Since I starve for fps I usually put some comands to remove shadows, details, etc but everytime I do so when I leave the game those changes are not saved. Once you do that, go to the Local Files tab, select Verify Integrity of game files, it may take a bit depending on your hard drive speed and such. It should only take 5 min max, but that is rare for it to even take that long.
